Chiswick Park, London, UK
A prestigious business park designed by Richard Rodgers partnership that has won many awards.
The park comprises a number of glass buildings surrounding an ornamental lake.
Chiswick park has to be one of the most relaxing places to work in London.
The perimeter steelwork comprises tubular steel elements spanning between the main concrete frame and slender columns spaced 6m and 9m away from the side and front facades respectively. This steelwork supports a number of elements including high-level aluminium anodised louvres, maintenance walkways and escape stairs suspended by high-tensioned cables tied back to the primary structure. The distinctive entrance canopy to each of the buildings is supported by twin bow-string trusses, each spanning 24m and centrally based with high tension cable stays.
Daver Steels developed a solution for outriggers for the slender columns as well as for the distinctive centrally braced bay. In addition Davers supplied bracing & tension bars for the large extruded aluminium solar shading.as well as specialist components for the escape stairways.
Daver Steels also supplied the large machined connection boss and associated shaped plate. The connection boss was machined from a solid forged block, and bead blasted to produce the matching surface finish.
